For true gamers and computer geeks, there is no greater satisfaction than having a setup that is impressive. Bigger speakers, higher-quality accessories, and a layout that keeps everything within easy reach. They spend thousands to get the best possible systems. So why not create a desk that can match their most basic needs? This is where a custom epoxy coating computer desk comes in.
The Toys We Love to Play With
In the world of gamers and nerds, your “workspace” is vital to success. It’s hard to play games if you are in a confined space that does not give you some range of movement when the game gets exciting. It is also difficult to focus if you have a mess all around your screen, or if you cannot find everything you need when you need it. In my space, I need everything to be in a designated area and I am completely lost if someone else moves even the tiniest of things. Therefore, in my office, organization and a desk that is big enough to hold it all is essential.
The downside, when my desk got messed up, as things do over time, my area looked nasty at all times. However, when I decided to upgrade, I couldn’t find anything that suited me as much as my play-station. So, I took matters into my own hands.
Creative Customization for Desks
There are some very impressive desks out there for people who spend a lot of time at their desks. For all the thousands we can spend on our equipment, there is at least that much that can be spent on a high-quality desk. Therefore, I decided to create my own customized desk. It was much easier than I believed it could be. I created a beautiful desk that is 100% mine. The color that I wanted, the style that I’ve always loved, and it is worthy of showing off when guests come over.
Since I recreated my desk, several friends of mine have done the same. Each desk is astonishingly beautiful. I was surprised when I saw my friend’s desk recently. She lives in Canada and used my epoxy ideas, but with a twist. Once she found out that epoxy was available in Canada too, she got creative. She took photos of her family and put them into her desktop in a kind of collage style. She also added trinkets that express the things her family enjoys. It turned out so cool, and definitely gives me ideas for when I need another desk remodeling.
What Desk Will You Love Most?
There is no end to the creative possibilities when you add epoxy to your desktop. You can customize it to be anything you want it to be. Even if you decide that your old desk is too small for future use, a little thought can help you expand on what you have and then you can decorate it to be the way you want it.
As an added bonus to creating your own desk, you could save hundreds or thousands on a new one. This will give you more money to put toward your equipment. Win/Win!
In a world that we constantly strive to reach higher, there is new technology everywhere you look. It is a driving force that no one can or wants to slow down. It is both a blessing and a curse according to many. The good side of it is that technology enables us to do more, see more, and learn more. The downside-high end technology is expensive! It comes at such a high cost that most people cannot afford it until it is old technology.
What if you could sleep with a tiny 4-lb pillow and get the best night’s sleep of your life? Or if your baby’s diaper was somehow connected to your smartphone so that you would always know that they were damp? It is possible, or may very well be in the near future. The Somnox Robotic Pillow can sing you to sleep like a baby, soothing away the stress of your days. The Smart Diaper can eliminate the risk of diaper rash and help it to heal faster if there is already a rash present. How have we ever lived without it?
If you have a child that is near or under about 10 years old, they have no concept of a world before smartphones and tablets. Go back to 25 years ago or so, and only the rich could have a mobile phone. It was one that you plugged into your car’s cigarette lighter and may have been in a bag that weighed several pounds. Reception kind of sucked and there was no way you were going to sit with it on your lap.
Gadgets and electronics are what today’s world is all about. However, no one shows it more readily than the more “nerdier type people”. Nerds are in part responsible for the technology that is available to us. However, there is an exception to the rule that nerds are the main ones who love it. It is found by people who love on board power, all the time.
We depend on power in some way, every day that we are working, playing, and living life. Think about the external battery packs that we have. The ones that we can carry in a pocket while we use our smartphones and tablets. The battery re-chargers that we use for charging up AA or AAA batteries for the remote control. The batteries that your portable speakers and any number of other things. It is nice to keep these things powered up.
We personally are not nerds, well, at least not completely. However, we do love having our GPS, Radio, VHF Radio, Radar, etc. powered up when we go out. This means that we also need a strong reserve of power. Boats do not have a way to “recharge” batteries while you are powered off and fishing for the day. This means you need multiple batteries and a way to connect them all to one another.
Batteries are something we use on a daily basis, often without even thinking about them. Consider your remote control, your smartphone, your PC, vehicle, etc. Without batteries, would we be able to use these items? No. Life would definitely be harder and a lot less interesting.
If you could look inside a typical battery, you will see a liquid of some sort. Typically, if you open a battery you will discover zinc, manganese dioxide, and potassium hydroxide. It becomes negative currents inside of the battery’s tube. When that cell, is connected to a circuit (a lightbulb) the zinc will react with the manganese. This causes it to lose electrons, which is collected by a metal rod inside the battery. They flow up from the bottom of the cell through a negative terminal, and through small wires to the bulb. When this happens, the bulb lights up. Then it travels back into the top of the battery on the positive terminal. With the circuit complete, you have power from your battery.
You can use a variety of liquids to build a battery. Soda, saltwater, and even water (though it works best with bleach, vinegar, or lemon juice). You will also need two metal strips. An aluminum can that has been sanded down to bare aluminum will work or you can buy strips from a hardware store. If you prefer to use water with bleach or other liquids, you can make a multi-cell battery with an ice tray, copper wiring, and some standard, non-coated screws.
Once upon a time, many years ago, the word “Geek” was meant as an insult. It was often used by bullies to taunt kids that were perhaps smarter than them, but most often it referred to them as “socially inept”. Several years ago, this whole idea changed. It started when a Canadian television show started making “geek” cool. It showcased the kids who were able to think outside of the box. We, for one, are happy to see it.
In today’s world, the idea of a “geek” is not a bad thing. We have “The Geek Squad” which can repair or fix your computer. They know a lot about their particular topic of interest and can muddle through virtually anything. If you put in a Google search for “Popular Geeks”, you will find a wide variety of geeky people listed. Each one is “geeks” in their chosen hobby. Crafters, devoted Star Trek fans, musicians, and more are all people who embrace the nickname.
